Schiuma per isolamento termico da edilizia per la fusoliera, Depron per le velature. Il legno compare solo per le parti mobili, alettoni ed elevatore e per il supporto motore in coda. Small semi-scale of the F 86 Sabre, built using the same techniques as the Mirage 2000. Builders' heat insulation foam used for the fuselage, and Depron for the wings. Wood is only used for the moving parts, i.e. the ailerons and flaps, and for the engine housing in the tail. Questa fusoliera e' realizzata in due meta' (destra e sinistra), essendo larga quasi 8 cm. Viene ricavata da due lastre di "Roofmate" da 4 cm. di spessore. In questo modo e' piu' agevole svuotarla ed alleggerirla, dopodiche' si uniscono i due semigusci con epossidica rapida. This fuselage had to be built in two halves (left and right), because it is almost 8 cm wide. It is made of two sheets of "Roofmate," each of them 4 cm thick. In this way, it can be emptied and lightened more easily, after which the two halves can be glued together with a quick-acting epoxy. Il motore verra' montato spigente nel cono di coda, ed avvitato alla piccola flangia di compensato di betulla. Tutta la zona della coda e' rinforzata internamente con un tessuto di vetro da 80 gr./m2 e resina epossidica. The engine is mounted inside the tail cone, and bolted to the small flange made of birch plywood. The complete tail area strengthened inside using 80g/m2 glass fibre and epoxy resin. Gli impennaggi, in Depron, hanno le parti mobili in balsa dello stesso spessore (3 mm.) e sono sagomate a sezione triangolare, con bordo di uscita assottigliato ad 1 mm. circa. La cerniera e' costituita da Magic Tape della "Scotch", un nastro adesivo leggermente opaco e sottile, di colore biancastro, che divente quasi invisibile una volta che aderisce alle superfici. The tail surfaces, made of Depron, have their moving parts in balsa of the same thickness (3 mm), and have been shaped to a triangular cross-section. The outer edge is thinned to approximately 1 mm. The join was made using Scotch "Magic Tape," a thin, slightly translucent and whitish type of Sellotape, which is almost invisible when stuck down properly. Si distinguono chiaramente le due superfici di Depron che costituiscono il ventre ed il dorso, inframmezzate da un longheroncino di Depron e balsa, che aiuta la forma del profilo. L'ala non ha nemmeno una centina. Il quadrello di balsa che sporge dall'ala rinforza la connessione con la fusoliera. The root of the wing, before gluing to the fuselage. You can easily see the two Depron surfaces of the belly and the back, with a small spar in the middle made of Depron and balsa: this helps with the shape of the profile. There are no ribs at all in the wing. The bit of balsa you can see sticking out from the wing is merely to strengthen the connection to the fuselage. Il modello e' quasi terminato, mancando solamente la verniciatura e l'installazione delle parti elettriche. Tutta la fusoliera e' preventivamente verniciata con una mano leggerissima di resina epossidica, per indurirla un po' e prepararla alla vernice. The model is almost complete: it only requires painting, and installation of the electrics. The complete fuselage has been primed with a very light layer of epoxy resin: this hardens it and prepares things for painting. Altra immagine prima della verniciatura. Gli smalti Humbrol si sono rivelati adatti, in quanto sono molto coprenti, leggeri e non corrosivi per le superfici. Il modello cosi' come appare nella foto pesa meno di 100 grammi. Le dimensioni sono: ap. alare 58 cm. lungh. 65 cm. Another photo before painting. I have always found Humbrol paints to be perfectly adequate, as they cover well, are light, and do not corrode. Nei modelli successivi e' stato eliminato, perche' indebolisce la struttura, e non e' indispensabile. Il motore si inserisce facilmente, calandolo dalla cappottina.
